Overview


The School of Medicine is one of the six Schools in the Faculty of Health Sciences. The School brings together six academic disciplines, including the Discipline of Medicine. The Discipline of Medicine ranges across multiple campuses including The Queen Elizabeth Hospital which plays a prominent research role in medical research.

Based at the QEH campus, the Basil Hetzel Institute for Medical Research houses successful and active research groups working together to produce world standard research.

We are seeking an experienced post doctoral research fellow for a 12 month contract to lead and develop continuing projects previously identified by CIDR (Centre for Inflammatory Diseases Research), a collaborative group consisting of the Ear Nose and Throat, Stroke-Neurology, Rheumatology Units and Department of Medicine.

Position Requirements
You should have:

  • PhD in biological sciences with a strong background in immunology
  • experience with immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, real time qPCR, multi analyte bead based arrays
  • experience with small animal models
  • proven ability to be well organised and perform well under pressure
  • highly developed oral and written communication skills.


Salary: (Level A) $52,798 – $71,650 per annum.

Superannuation
Plus an employer superannuation contribution of 17% applies.

Term of Position
This 12 month fixed-term, full-time position is available from the 1st of January 2011 with the possibility of extension pending funding
